Wednesday Ratings: CMAs Bring Viewers to ABC

The CMAs - and a reunion of The Eagles - drew large numbers to ABC. The network scored a victory in both the viewers and the demos.
8pm
- Nearly 16 million fans saw Carrie Underwood’s successful night at the CMAs (5.4/14 in 18-49 demo).
- Kid Nation (8.1 million, 2.1/6) was actually up over 1 million from last week.
- Back to You (6.4 million, 2.2/6) and ‘Til Death (6.5 million, 2.4/6) were practically even with each other.
- Phenomenon (6.1 million, 2.2/6) was slightly down from Halloween.
- America’s Next Top Model (2.5/7) rounded off the hour with 5.1 million.
9pm
- Criminal Minds (14.5 million, 3.8/9 in 18-49 demo) remained steady from last Wednesday.
- Kitchen Nightmares (2.9/7) and Bionic Woman (2.7/7) both cooked up 6.4 million viewers.
- Gossip Girl (1.2/3) gave 2.5 million something to talk about.

- CSI: NY (12.9 million, 3.5/10 in 18-49) was down about 1/2 million from last week.
- Life (6.4 million, 2.6/7) was surprisingly up about 700,000 from one week ago.

Little goblins wanting their candy fix and a night full of reruns kept audiences away.
8pm
- Pushing Daisies (8.5 million, 2.6/8 in 18-49 demo) was down almost 1 million from last week.
- Kid Nation (6.9 million, 2.0/6) lost a good portion of its audience to trick-or-treating.
- A 2-hour Phenomenon (2.3/7) conjured up only 6.4 million viewers.
- America’s Next Top Model, Back To You and ‘Til Death were all repeats.
9pm
- Private Practice (11.2 million, 3.8/10 in 18-49) had the night’s best demo performance.
- Criminal Minds (14.7 million, 3.5/9) had the evening’s largest audience.
- Both Kitchen Nightmares and Gossip Girl were repeats.
10pm
- CSI: NY (13.5 million, 3.6/10 in 18-49 demo) easily won the hour.
- Dirty Sexy Money (8.4 million, 2.9/8) remained about even with last week.

Both ABC and CBS had to take a back seat to baseball last night. Game 1 of the World Series was a huge ratings victory for FOX.

- Approximately 16.7 million fans rallied for the Red Sox/Rockies game (5.6/14 in 18-49 demo).
- Pushing Daisies (9.4 million, 3.0/8) wilted a bit from last week.
- The debut of Phenomenon (8.4 million, 2.9/8) underperformed Deal or No Deal’s usual numbers, but it remained close to Daisies in the demos.
- Kid Nation (8 million, 2.5/7) was slightly up from last Wednesday; America’s Next Top Model (4.7 million, 2.3/6) was slightly down.

- Both Criminal Minds (14.9 million, 3.9/19 in 18-49) and Private Practice (11.8 million, 4.5/11) remained even with last week.
- Bionic Woman (7.8 million, 3.3/8) saw another decline.
- Gossip Girl (1.2/3) held steady from last Wednesday.

- CSI: NY (13.6 million, 3.8/10 in 18-49) took the hour’s viewers and demos.
- Dirty Sexy Money (8.6 million, 3.2/8) pretty much repeated last week.

Wednesday night saw another close race between ABC and CBS. Although Pushing Daisies and Private Practice both saw a drop in viewers, their demos helped the Alphabet network win the evening.

- Deal or No Deal (12.3 million, 3.1/9 in 18-49 demo) had another strong night and grabbed the hour’s largest audience.
- Although down 250,000 viewers, Pushing Daisies (9.7 million, 3.6/10) had the biggest numbers in the valuable age group.
- Kid Nation (7.4 million, 2.4/7) improved up on last week’s numbers.
- Back to You (6.9 million, 2.3/7) and ‘Til Death (7 million, 2.7/7) both saw slight increases.
- America’s Next Top Model (5 million, 2.5/7) lost about 300,000.

- Private Practice (11.8 million, 4.3/11 in 18-49) had the evening’s best demo turnout.
- At 14.9 million, Criminal Minds (3.9/10) had the night’s largest audience.
- NBC’s Bionic Woman (8.5 million, 3.3/8) dropped over 1.5 million fans.
- Kitchen Nightmares (6.7 million, 3.2/8) held steady from last week.

‘Pushing Daisies’ Helps ABC Wednesday

Wednesday’s premiere of Pushing Daisies attracted many customers to The Pie Hole. By night’s end, ABC came out with another win (followed by CBS, NBC, FOX and CW).

- ABC’s Pushing Daisies drew an impressive 12.8 million viewers and dominated in the important 18-49 age group (4.2 rating/12 demo).
- NBC’s Deal or No Deal (11.1 million, 2.8/8) came up second.
- Kid Nation (7.5 million, 2.4/7), America’s Next Top Model (4.5 million, 2.2/6) and Back To You (6.6 million, 2.4/7) all saw a loss in viewers.
- ‘Til Death (6.2 million, 2.5/7) remained steady while Kitchen Nightmares (6.3 million, 2.9/7) hung in there.

- CBS’ Criminal Minds (14.4 million, 3.7/9) took the hour in viewers, but placed 3rd in the demos.
- Private Practice (12.3 million, 4.5/11) declined from last week, but still topped that new show on NBC.
- Bionic Woman (10.9 million, 4.0/10) dropped 30% in the demos and lost 19% of its viewers.
- CW’s Gossip Girl (2.8 million, 1.3/3) remained fairly even.

- CSI: NY (12.7 million, 3.9/10) maintained last week’s viewership numbers.
- ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money (9.7 million, 3.6/10) lost almost 700,000 viewers but moved up to second place.
- NBC’s Life (8.8 million, 3.0/8) lost 13% of its audience causing it to fall into 3rd place.
